Energy expenditure in restaurants
Energy consumption in bars and restaurants is usually a significant monthly expense. The amount of electricity consumed depends on the size, equipment and type of service offered by each bar or restaurant, but energy costs are almost always significant and can go as high as two-thirds of fixed costs – source: Pyme Energy CheckUp project of the Union European.
In Spain , restaurants use between 3 and 10 percent more energy than the average of commercial buildings; this can represent between 4 and 6% of total operating costs, according to The Carbon Trust. This is due to the use of special equipment for food preparation and storage, long opening hours (especially in fast food chains) and a continuous demand for service.
In Costa Rica, the cafe, bar, and restaurant sector reported that before the pandemic there were about 19,000 stores in the country , but around 5,000 closed due to the sanitary measures adopted in response to COVID-19.
INVESTMENT IN PROFITABLE SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY
One way to reduce the cost of electricity consumption – to be more competitive in a post-pandemic market – is to invest in a photovoltaic solar energy project with solar panels;
